Confederate Comrade

A Confederate soldier modeled from John Elder's painting Appomattox contemplates the battle's dead at the South's surrender in the Civil War. Eight hundred men left to fight for the south from the very location where the statue now stands in "Old Town" Alexandria, Virginia. Dedicated in 1889 and sculpted by M. Casper Buberl.
