An open air neoclassical memorial to the author of the first draft of the Declaration of Independence and the nation's third President features a colossal bronze figure by Rudulph Evans. Jefferson stands on a pedestal in a domed space ringed by an Ionic colonnade. The memorial was dedicated in 1943 with a plaster figure that was replaced at the end of World War II.
