The word America is a version of this Italian explorer's first name. Amerigo Vespucci helped establish that the landmass Columbus discovered was not part of Asia but an new continent. This bust is by contemporary sculptor Greg Wyatt and was installed in 2012 in the garden of the Organization of American States building.
