Pike's Woman

This detail of the Albert Pike memorial shows a woman holding a banner of the Scottish Rite and commemorates his Masonic leadership and not his status as a Confederate general. It is the only statue of a Confederate within the District of Columbia and is listed as one of eighteen Civil War Monuments. First dedicated in 1901, it was sculpted by Gaetano Trentanove.
