Wind Ward

DuPont Fountain memorializes the Rear Admiral who established the Civil War blockade of the southern coast, and is one of the 18 designated Civil War monuments in Washington. This figure represents the wind, one of three around the base of the fountain embodying an aspects of the navigational arts. Sculpted by Daniel Chester French, the fountain was dedicated in 1921.
