Meade's Medal

The Major General George Gordon Meade Memorial honors the commanding general of the Army of the Potomac at Gettysburg, a decisive battle of the Civil War. Donated by the state of Pennsylvania to memorialize a native son, the sponsors chose another Pennsylvanian, Charles Grafly, to sculpt it. Dedicated in 1927, it was a late entrant to the eighteen official Civil War monuments in Washington.
