The Butt-Millet Fountain memorializes two men who lived together and died together on the Titanic. Just south of the White House, its creation and placement is due to their friendship with President Taft and other notables. The figure shown represents military valor, for military aide Archibald Butt. Created by Daniel Chester French in 1913.
