The largest and best known memorial to Lincoln is the third to honor the fallen President in Washington DC. Artist Daniel Chester French created the sculptural image of Lincoln in 1920 which has become the iconic image of the man. The memorial is sited on one of the most commanding spots of the National Mall, facing the US Congress building.
