Olive Remains

This sculpture of Olive Risley Steward, in hammered lead, honors the adopted daughter of Lincoln's Secretary of State, William Henry Seward, whose wife and daughter died shortly after he was attacked as part of the Lincoln assassination conspiracy. Sculptor John William Cavanaugh created this image in 1971, and it stands today in the front yard of a house near Seward Square.
